Joe's P.O.V

“Shit,” I hissed, practically glaring at the computer screen. I heard Kevin sigh from his spot on the couch behind me, and I didn’t even have to look at him to know he was probably rolling his eyes, impatiently.

I was having a bit of trouble finding somewhere to take Nick. Okay…maybe a lot of trouble. This is why I was currently becoming frustrated as I searched through the internet, and Kevin’s patience was wearing thin from having to have had to be here for the last three hours.

“I searched up just about every spot teenagers most likely enjoy to hang out,” I said, pressing down hard on the mouse. “But none of them are good enough for my taste.”

I heard Kevin stand up, and I could see him walk towards the mini refrigerator on the other side of the room. He pulled out a Sprite, opening the metal can and instantly pressing the top to his lips, taking loud, noisy gulps. I cringed, and then shot him a glare. He shrugged as if by apologizing, knowing how much I hated it when he did that.

“Look, I don’t know why you’re making such a big deal out of this anyway,” he stated. “Just take the kid out for burgers or something.”

My eyebrows furrowed, a wave of confusion washing over me. Personally, I didn’t know why I was making such a big deal out of it either. But there was just a feeling I couldn’t get pass. It was as if my conscious was squeezing in on me, making it difficult for me to just take Nick anywhere.

When I hadn’t answered, Kevin chuckled, plopping down back on the couch. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you actually cared for him.”

I had fully expected myself to open my mouth in protest, but surprisingly I hadn’t- as much I as wanted to- only causing Kevin to laugh when I wasn’t immediately in denial.

“That’s what I thought,” he said, flipping on the TV with the remote.

“Shut up,” I muttered, standing up from the computer and instantly trying to change the subject. “What about Friendly’s? Teenagers like ice cream, don’t they?”

Kevin snorted. “Well, yeah. But I think you’re forgetting that he’s sixteen, not six.”

I groaned, running my fingers through my hair and giving it a slight tug with my hands. Why was this so difficult? Why was I so pressed to take Nick somewhere special? It’s not like it would matter anyway.

“Bro, I don’t understand why you act like it’s so hard. You were a teenager yourself only a few years ago,” Kevin stated.

“Yeah, but I think you’re forgetting that I didn’t exactly have what you would call a ‘normal teenage experience’,” I thought to remind him.

He nodded, considerably, and took another long sip of his soda, being careful not to gulp too loudly. I was grateful he was being so considerate. I think I was already stressed out enough without the annoying sound of his sloppy ass drinking habit.

I walked over and plopped down on the couch next to him, letting my fingers tap along the leather exterior, thoughtfully. Soon, I tuned everything out but the sound of my own tapping. Then, that’s when it hit me.

I quickly stood up, my eyes wide and a large grin spread across my face.

“What’s with the goofy ass expression?” Kevin asked teasingly, staring up at me.

I turned to face him, wondering why I hadn’t thought of this before.

“I know where I can take him.”
Alright, so here it is, just like I promised. Sorry it's so short. It's easier for me to make shorter updates and be more frequent. Hope you liked it! Review please!
